Air Travel to San Francisco

There are two major airports close to downtown San Francisco: San Francisco International Airport (SFO) and Oakland International Airport. Most major airlines go to SFO and most budget airlines fly to Oakland. Taking a cab from SFO to downtown San Francisco costs about $35 without tip. Cabs from Oakland are at least double the cost. Shuttle service and BART light rail are also available from both airports to downtown San Francisco.

Getting Around the Bay Area

If you are planning a day trip to Napa or elsewhere during your stay, car rentals are available at the airport and downtown. Otherwise, a car rental for the weekend may not be necessary or advisable since parking is often difficult and expensive.

San Francisco's weather is one of the hardest to forecast and can change drastically from day to day. The weather in San Francisco on Labor Day weekend could be anything from cold and windy to sunny and warm. It is generally quite cool in the evenings, so bring layers.
